The text processing method applied to the touch screen mobile handheld device is characterized by comprising the following steps: entering a text reading interactive interface; starting a text discontinuous selecting tool or a marking tool; inputting a first sliding gesture and selecting or marking some word or sentence or paragraph corresponding to the gesture in the text; inputting a second sliding gesture, maintaining the selecting or marking state of inputting the words selected or marked by the first sliding gesture, and selecting or marking some word or sentence or paragraph corresponding to the second sliding gesture; and establishing and storing a first index address of the reading interface corresponding to the words selected or marked by the first sliding gesture, the character number of the selected words as well as a second index address of the reading interface corresponding to the words selected or marked by the second sliding gesture and the character number of the selected words. With the text processing method applied to the touch screen mobile handheld device, discontinuous text can be selected or marked in the text reading interactive interface.
