LABORATORY STUDY OF INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY ON MASONRY ARCH BRIDGES

This paper investigates the use of infrared thermography for detection of moisture behind the surface of masonry arch bridges. The paper describes the laboratory experiments of a laboratory built masonry arch bridge. This is the first application of infrared thermography on masonry arch bridges in the UK. The outcome of this work shows that infrared thermography can generally be used to determine the presence of moisture within the fill of a masonry arch bridge.
