The method comprises the following steps that the client requests a video list for the server; according to conditions contained in the received video list request, the server generates the video list which accords with the conditions and sends the video list to the client; the client selects video clips for after video synthesis from the received video list so as to form editing setting; the client sends the generated editing setting to the server; and the server creates an editing task by utilizing the editing setting received from the client so as to carry out video synthesis on the video clips selected by the client. By the invention, editing synthesis of videos can be completed at a cloud and cost of manpower and material resources of the video editing work is greatly saved.
