Real Time Control of Plasma Boundary In JET

1. Abstract The Pumped Divertor phase of JET has involved the use of plasma configurations with complex control requirements. Therefore, a new JET Plasma Shape Controller (SC) was developed. This system was brought into operation in February 94 and had been used for all the Mark I campaign (94–95). The experience gained during that campaign, and the new and more stringent control requirements resulting from the introduction in JET of the Mark II divertor have prompted the development of a new and more powerful version of Shape Controller. This paper describes the new system, and the performance achieved during the Mark II campaign.
