Two simple, accurate and precise UV methods were developed for the estimation of Aceclofenac (ACF) and Drotaverine Hydrochloride (DRT) in Tablet dosage form. Both the drugs are used against the muscle spasm. Method A is Simultaneous equation method, wavelengths selected for Quantitation were 277.0 nm and 228.0 nm for Aceclofenac and Drotaverine Hydrochloride respectively which are the λmax of both the drugs. Method B is Q –Analysis method, wavelengths selected were 228.0 nm (λmax of DRT) and 246.0 nm (Isobestic point) for the analysis. In both the methods linearity for detector response was observed in the concentration range of 2-12mcg/ml for ACF and DRT respectively. The results of tablet analysis for method A is found to be 99.99% + 0.06 S.D for ACF and 99.97% + 0.08 S.D for DRT and results obtained for Method B is 99.55% + 0.55 S.D for ACF and 99.97 % + 0.50 S.D for DRT. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of both the drugs in commercial tablet preparation. The results of the analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies.
