Towards maximising the value and sustainable use of glass

Waste generation and its disposal in landfill sites is unsustainable. As a consequence, increasing emphasis is being placed on its minimisation through recycling. It is not possible to return all glass cullet to glass making, and the construction industry provides a potential use for this material. If developed with foresight, this application can absorb any quantity of the material that is likely to arise in the foreseeable future.
