Project management using a microcomputer

Abstract In the last two years, a wide variety of project management systems for the microcomputer have emerged in the commercial software market. The objective of this software is to enable the manager to use computerized project management tools with the same ease as performing spreadsheet analysis. This study presents a profile of the current capabilities of project management software together with a list of desired features. This is followed by a detailed review and evaluation of thirteen packages. Special attention is given to the construction and representation of the project network in the different packages. The study closes with a discussion of the trends and challenges in microcomputer software development for project management, as perceived by the authors.
