Evaluation of adaptation and additivity failures using printed and monitor samples

The visual data obtained from the cross-media color reproduction of the printed samples and the EIZO LCD monitor color stimuli under different light (D65 and A ) were used to evaluate the impact of different viewing light on soft-proofing color reproduction. The experimental data indicate that there are some discrepancies between the printed samples and the mean matches of the observers on the display. From the asymmetric color matching, the observer mesmerisms and failures of colorimetric additivity have been verified with the previous study, the monitor colors are “bluer” and “neutral” than the printed samples. The color difference formulae (CAM02-LCD, SCD and UCS) derived from CAM02 model were used to check the performance of Color Adaption Transformation, and the transformation need to be improved.
