BER performance of MQAM and MPSK in Nakagami fading channel with STTD

In this paper, statistical analysis of received signal to noise ratio (SNR) properties is carried out under Nakagami fading with space-time transmit diversity (STTD) and new closed-form expression for the probability density function (pdf) of received SNR is obtained. Exact bit error rate (BER) expressions of MQAM and MPSK under Nakagami fading with STTD are acquired through numerical computation. It is shown in our performance illustrations that BER performance is improved significantly with the increase of average SNR and m. At the same time, the simulation results achieved in [S. Alamouti, 1998] can be included as a special case of our analytical results.
