Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of the iliac and deep femoral vessels appears to be successfully performed by experienced arteriographers, and the early and 2 year patency and clinical results are very encouraging. The technique requires detailed imaging systems and selective catheter technique acquired by experience in dealing with diseased arteries. The preliminary results and techniques using balloon dilatation catheters are presented.
