Toward realizing IS-95 in software radio

Software radio techniques are becoming more and more attractive because of the recent development of the computer central processor unit (CPU) and the analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog (A/D/A) technique. For mobile communication systems, the advantages of this novel system architecture is obvious: when the IS-95 base station is implemented in software, the system will enjoy a more flexible function. We consider the software radio implementation of the IS-95 base station, analyze each module's temporal performance. The evaluation results can be used to estimate the performance of a real software radio IS-95 system.
