Study on Geometric Correction of OMIS Images

The platform posture of low-altitude airborne image spectrometer is less stable and its Field of View (FOV) is broader than that of spaceborne remote sensors. It makes the geometric distortion of the image more complicated. The goal of geometric correction is to reduce these distortions farthest. The OMIS(Operational Modular Imaging Spectrometer) is an airborne image spectrometer developed by Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of CAS and it has been widely used for hyperspectral remote sensing purpose in China since last decade. In this paper, the main geometric distortions of OMIS images are discussed. Besides, a method for geometric correction of OMIS images is presented in detail. The experimental results show that the presented method works very well.
