The paper describes design of a linguistic ontology in a specific domain intended for natural language processing. To develop a linguistic domain ontology it is necessary to define problem-specific tasks typical for a specific domain. Formalization of problem-specific relations in a domain enables to improve cognitive efficiency of a linguistic ontology. The principal feature of the proposed domain ontology building approach involves matching of natural language word senses with WordNet linguistic ontology units. For this purpose each WordNet synset is associated with corresponding complex term component and taxonomic relations are associated with headers of each complex term. Developed ontology “Technical specifications in avionics” allowing us to describe the most exact language variants of a concept in both languages (Russian and English) was designed. So we may improve efficiency of natural language processing by means of the proposed linguistic ontology in the scientific and technical domain. The specific domain ontology developed in accordance with the proposed approach is modeled in software environment Protégé.
