Lack of an epidemiologic link between Kaposi's sarcoma and CNS lymphoma in patients with AIDS

Reply from the Authors: We appreciate the opportunity to reply to the data described suggesting a lack of epidemiologic association between primary CNS lymphoma (1°CNSL) and KS. In our table 1,1 we identified comorbidity in our patients with brain lymphoma. Only 2 of the 20 HIV-1-infected patients with 1°CNSL also had KS. In both cases, the lymphomas were HHV-8-positive. In contrast to these data and the findings of Buskin et al., however, Ahsan and Neugut have found that KS and 1°CNSL are associated with one another in HIV-1-infected individuals. …
