Comparison of Numerical and Laboratory Experiment Examining Deformation of Red Blood Cell

In this work, we are dealing with a numerical model of red blood cell (RBC), which is compared to a real RBC. Our aim is to verify the accuracy of the model by comparing the behavior of simulated RBCs with behavior of the real cells in equivalent situations. For this comparison, we have chosen a microfluidic channel with narrow constrictions which was already explored in laboratory conditions with real RBCs. The relation between the cell deformation and its velocity is the element of comparison of simulated and real RBC. We conclude that the velocity-deformation dependence is similar in the two compared experiments.
