Hochfester Beton : Neue Möglichkeiten für die Fertigteilindustrie

The connection method examined within the scope of the research project High-strength concrete - structural behavior of butt-jointed precast columns, was studied in detail, based on component testing and theoretical calculations. A first series of tests performed with increased transverse reinforcement in the joints in accordance with Heft 316 showed that, due to the changed material behavior of high-strength concrete (HSC) compared to normal concrete, an application of the design proposals without change would not be advisable. Building up on this recognition, a new design concept for increased transverse reinforcement in joints was developed and checked in a second series of testing. With the aid of this design proposal, a sensible transverse reinforcement can in future be determined, so that this butt joint can be used also with precast columns made of HSC.
