HYDROSTATIC LEVELLING IN THE NETHERLANDS

AbstractThe north-western and northern coastline of the Netherlands is made up of a series of six islands (the Frisian Islands) and three sandflats, separated by inlets of the sea with a width of 3 to 7 km. In the framework of the Third Precise Levelling all levels between these islands were measured by hydrostatic levelling with the exception of the connections to Rottumerplaat. In this paper the measuring of the hydrostatic levelling Vlieland-Terschelling, being the longest, will be described.
