A Rapid Locating Method of Vehicle License Plate Based on Characteristics of Characters' Connection and Projection

License plate location is the key component of automatic License Plate Recognition (LPR) system. In this paper a hybrid license plate location method based on characteristics of characters' connection and projection is presented. This method can efficiently cope with the images of complex background. The experimental results show that the algorithm has high accuracy and robustness.
