A novel foldable mode reconfigurable cubic patch antenna

This paper presents a novel design of simplified, low cost and lightweight mode reconfigurable cubic patch antenna that is designated to operate around 2.4 GHz for the applications of GSSP, WLAN/Bluetooth/WiBree/ZigBee, LTE, DMB and wireless routers. When this antenna is unfolded, it radiates omni-directionally at 2.4 GHz with a bandwidth (S11<; -10 dB) of 450 MHz (2.3 GHz-2.75 GHz); while when it's folded, this antenna operates as a patch yagi antenna that consists of one reflector and one driver, and it radiates unidiretionally at 2.4 GHz with a zenithal realized gain of 5.1 dB, and the operable frequency bandwidth (S11<;-10 dB) is 460 MHz (2.23 GHz-2.69 GHz).
