Solitons in Biological Systems at Low Temperature

We propose a model to explain the Raman spectra of the green alga Chlorella P. The phase transitions discovered at 230 and 260 K are shown to be produced by the appearance and subsequent disappearance of solitons on the biomolecular chains. Water plays a fundamental role in the dynamics of this phenomenon.
