PLC(Power Line Communication) is promising for its extensiveness, pervasiveness and cheapness. However, the channel is too unstable to provide credible communication,so reliable and efficient routing is essential to PLC,but routing algorithm in existence cannot characterize the real-time channel state exactly and therefore routing is inefficient.A Reliability of Channel State based Routing(RCSR) algorithm is proposed in this paper, which can support reliable and efficient routing in PLC.In the proposed algorithm,a parameter(RCS,Reliability of Channel State) is employed to describe the channel state among nodes by enumerating the heartbeat of each node. From RCS and routing information of neighbors',each node calculates distance to others. If RCS is more than threshold, then the distance is one,and can communicate directly,or else must relay by repeaters. If there is no path from source to destination, then source node floods request to find one,and selects the best path from returned paths according to distance and path reliability. And a Local Redundant Message Predicting is employed to prevent redundant messages produced while flooding.Performance studies based on simulations are carried out,and the results show that the proposed routing algorithm outperforms recently proposed similar algorithm in a number of important performance metrics, such as convergent speed, delay, number of assessable nodes, bandwidth consumed while flooding request, and so on.
