The invention discloses a contextual information management method and equipment in a heterogeneous network. The method comprises the steps that the base station equipment obtains contextual information of UE in a 3GPP network, and the base station equipment maintains the contextual information of the UE in the 3GPP network. According to the contextual information management method and the equipment, when the UE is switched from the 3GPP network to the non-3GPP network, the base station equipment can maintain the contextual information of the UE in the non-3GPP network, so that the base station equipment utilizes the contextual information of the UE in the non-3GPP network for related processing; in other words, the base station equipment utilizes the contextual information of the UE in the non-3GPP network for determining whether measurement configuration is carried out or not, and/or utilizes the contextual information of the UE in the non-3GPP network for determining whether service switching is carried out or not.
