Lean construction is a new way to manage construction. Most research on lean construction has focused on developing lean theories and tools, and applied these to the process of each construction activity, not to the overall project, to verify and improve instrumental rationality and technical efficiency. Furthermore, the research tends to ignore considering the human factor and other necessities that are fundamental in implementing lean construction. Several researchers have regarded lean construction as one-sided by insisting on the lack of consideration for Human Resource Management(HRM). There is unfortunately little empirical research data to refute or verify this argument. Thus, this study focuses on essential lean tools, assesses the effects of lean construction on human resources in connection with implementation, and evaluates company project strategies as well. In conclusion, the study found that lean construction was efficient in managing projects by using lean tools, and improved other project success factors associated with project completion. The success factors were better communication, effective coordination, increased involvement and commitment, trust, and better motivation. Lean construction emphasized and focused on improvement of relationships among project participants. This study also found that lean construction rather motivated project participants to have self-satisfaction, achievement, recognition by driving them to participate in decision-making and planning for their own jobs.
