Advances in special purpose compilers and mathematical processors such as FORMAC, REDUCE, MACSYMA, and others have spurred the development of computational methods that employ on a computer both symbolic and numerical computations to obtain a solution to a problem. The particular symbolic-numeric algorithm that we will consider here is a series method for solving two-point boundary value problems which was proposed in [ 3 ] • We will discuss only the case of the so called "first boundary value problem" :
