Fuel behavior in the intake port has not been fully understood due to the complexity of fuel film behavior, although many researches have been carried out to identify the fuel transport phenomena in the port fueled gasoline engines. In this paper FRFID and visualization method are used in order to study on the fuel transport behavior. That is, the relationship between the control logic and uHC emission is analyzed by using FRFID, and fuel spray patterns and wall wetted fuel are visualized by using the visioscope. Through these methods, the characteristic of uHC emission is analyzed on steady(uHC concentration at idle is emitted about 100% higher than that at 2000rpm, bmep=2.0 bar) and transient (uHC emission is increased at rapid deceleration and fuel cut) condition including rapid acceleration/deceleration. Also, wall wetted fuel corresponding to coolant temperature is measured. In the case which the coolant temperature is 30 degree, fuel wetting is increased above 190% compared with that at fully warm up. And, the design parameters of the intake manifold to decrease the fuel wetting are considered by visualization.
