Overview of the Latest Research and Development for Copper Die-Cast Squirrel-Cage Rotors

This paper presents the overview of the latest research and development for copper die-cast squirrel-cage rotors. First, some examples comparing copper die-casting with aluminum die-casting are shown. Effects of copper die-cast on efficiency, temperature, size and weight are demonstrated. Second, the latest copper die-cast machines capable of mass-producing rotors with various dimensions are shown. Key assembling techniques, problems and countermeasures are discussed. Third, with reviewing some papers mainly related to manufacturing method, resent technical trends in copper die-cast and small-size fabricated copper bar rotors are summarized.
