Test procedure for very high speed spindle motors

Induction motors fed by nonconventional supplies at a very high frequency are discussed. In order to evaluate the total motor losses and the single loss components, a test bench with synchronous machine capable of working at up to 2 kHz with sinusoidal output voltage has been set up. An induction motor equivalent circuit with parameters depending on the frequency is proposed. The proposed nonlinear induction motor model is particularly useful for prediction of the loss components in each load condition of the motor. The same procedure can be used in order to obtain design criteria for induction motors fed by nonsinusoidal supplies at higher frequencies.<<ETX>>
