A Program for the Optimum Design of Prestressed Concrete Highway Bridges

SYNOPSIS A program for the design of prestressed precast concrete, single-span, composite, deck and stringer highway bridges on the basis of a compre hensive minimum cost is described. The program handles that portion of the bridge design process which commences with the defined loads, basic geometry (width and span), material properties and unit costs, and ends with the determination of design parameters, quantities and total cost for the superstructure. The results of studies made with the system are presented.
