Dragging Anchor Event and Theoretical Verification of Single Mooring Ship

Based on an actual ship dragging anchor event, a detailed verification is presented in this paper about the feasibility of increasing chain scope dragging anchor control method. According to the real ship data and related meteorological information obtained in this event, theoretical calculation and analysis are made on the anchoring force and the external force before and after the occurrence of dragging anchor situation. The analytical results show that the method discussed is applicable to the ship in this event, which show the agreement of theory and practice. Furthermore, factors that might be taken into consideration are also discussed in this paper, if there are rocks, other obstacles or submarine cable at the bottom of the anchorage and so on.
