New zero voltage switching PWM flyback converter

In this paper a new zero voltage switching PWM flyback converter with simple auxiliary circuit is introduced. The auxiliary circuit is only composed of a resonant capacitor and an auxiliary switch connected to a tertiary winding on the converter main transformer. The proposed auxiliary circuit provides soft switching for the main switch while zero current switching condition is attained for the auxiliary switch. The proposed converter is analyzed and its various operating modes are discussed. The proposed converter is simulated with PSPICE software and is compared with hard switching counterpart. The simulation results confirm the theoretical analysis.
