Implementation Options for Time-Series Data

Time series management system is a special type of temporal databases that has a wide variety of applications. The most distinguished feature of time series is that the change of data values is tightly associated with a specific pattern of time, called calendar. Though there have been some research on time series management, very few studies have reported on how to map time series into implementation models. In this paper, we discuss different approaches to map time series into relational and object-oriented data models. The mapping schemes are illustrated using a simple example.
