The owner-operator, independent trucker

This study of a neglected sector of the transportation industry shows the independent truck driver to be a significant factor in explaining the diversion of traffic from rail to trucks. Based upon extensive field interviews with drivers, carriers, government officials and other interested parties, as well as containing a formal economic analysis of owner-operator costs, the study reveals that the owner-operator industry generates in excess of $5 billion per year in revenue. /Lexington Books/
