PAAPPA-a flexible computer environment for the analysis of the voice source

A flexible microcomputer-based voice source analysis tool, PAAPPA, is described. The PAAPPA-environment consists of two parts. In the first part of the PAAPPA-system the glottal excitation is estimated with an automatic inverse filtering method. In the second part the obtained pulseform and its derivative are analysed and critical time instants are marked by the user. The output of the second stage can be used in order to characterise the glottal source with time-based quotients. Using simple examples the paper demonstrates how the developed analysis tool is applied in practice. The experience obtained from users of the PAAPPA-system show that the system is straightforward and fast to apply.
