Risk assessment of cascading failures based on entropy weight method

The power system keeps suffering from large-scale blackout accidents caused by cascading failures, indicating that the risk assessment should be conducted basing on reasonable cascading failure model to explore serious accident chains. In this paper, a kind of risk assessment pertinent to cascading failures based on entropy weight method is proposed to search out accident chains at high risk. The power flow transferring factor and line topological distance are utilized in cascading failure simulation. The comprehensive severity index is proposed basing on the transient stability, voltage stability and power flow indices via applying entropy weight method to measure the stability of power system. By performing stimulations on a real-sized power system, the validity and feasibility of the proposed risk assessment method can be proved.
