Measurement of Nanofilament-fabric Optical Properties

This study examined the optical properties of nanofilament fabrics prepared from polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/modified-PET sea-island bicomponent fibers using an alkali treatment. The luster and anti-transparency properties of the fabrics before and after the alkali treatment were compared. The illuminance of the alkali-treated fabric relative to the position of an illuminometer was higher than that of untreated fabric, except for an illu- mination angle of approximately 270 o , where much of the light was transmitted through the pores created by the removal of the sea materials. In addition, the alkali-treated fabric exhibited superior anti-transparency properties compared to the untreated fabric. There- fore, the outstanding optical performance of nanofilament fabrics was confirmed.
