Studies on cyclohexane derivatives. Part VI: cis‐ and trans‐1,4‐Di‐t‐butylcyclohexane. Preparation and properties

cis- and trans-1,4-Di-t-butylcyclohexane have been prepared. Evidence is presented showing that the cis-isomer is mainly in a non-chair conformation. The enthalpy difference between the two isomers in the liquid state at 25° is 4.7 kcal/mole, the trans-isomer having the lower strain.
