Numerical Simulation of the Effect of Coal-Water-Slurry's Concentration on its Gasification Process

Numerical simulation is used to simulate the effect of coal-water-slurry's(CWS) concentration on the chemical constitution of the leaving gas as well as on the carbon transformation ratio during the CWS gasification processes in IGCC. An epitome of generally met problems concerning numerical simulation of gasification of CWS in high temperature and high pressure reactors, where complex chemical reactions take place, is presented, accompanied by comments on ways of solving them. The calculated temperature, and flow fields as well as the composition of the raw gas at exit agree quite well with those observed in actual engineering cases. Results thus obtained are used to analyze the effect of CWS concentration, as one of the main influencing factors, on the gasification process and on the composition of raw gas at exit together with ways of raising the percentage of effective components(CO+H_2) in the delivered coal gas.
