Cross modal perception in apes.

Abstract It has previously been demonstrated that apes can cross-modally perceive objects from vision to touch. This suggests they possess an ability which has been considered to be the exclusive property of man. The present study extends this work further by demonstrating the bidirectionally of cross-modal perception (i.e. touch to vision) in apes.
