A Model of Bay Layout for Containership Based on the Least Shifting

A simple stowage model for containership calling at a given number ports in one voyage was built up.The model omits the factors that may influence stowage planning, such as container's dimension and the kinds of cargoes, etc.and merely considers the influence caused by shift operations. If one stack occurs shift then decision variable is 1 otherwise 0,Optimization objective of the model is minimizing the number of the shifts, and then assigning the containers to slots belong to the Bay on board of the ship at each port by implicit graphic heuristic searching. The results of simulation prove that the model can make out the stowage planning, which has the least number of shifts.
