Research and Implementation of Real-Time Image Transmission Technique Based on OFDM

This paper presents our design for a real-time image transmission system based on OFDM and our practical implementation of it. We described many blocks required for the OFDM system, while paying particular attention to the synchronization algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed transmission technique is robust for mobile subscriber and can be employed efficiently in an OFDM system. We then implemented the transmission system using the selected algorithms based on DSP and FPGA. Base-band signal processing was realized in a DSP chip, and DDC (DUC) was implemented in an FPGA chip. In order to verify that the system can be applied to real-time image transmission, real-time video images broadcast transmission between two computers was designed.
