A Study on Behavior Estimation of Lift Pipe for SMS Mining

For SMS mining, the estimation of riser pipe behavior is important to design the mining system. In the present paper, the authors carried out the experiment using the 1/13.4 reduced scale model of lift pipe and submergible lift pump which was hung off and bottom fixed. The numerical simulations were carried out and compared with the experimental results. As a result, it was confirmed that by using the hydrodynamic coefficients of the cylinder in the oscillating flow as those of the lift pipe, the test result of the overall behavior agrees well with the simulation result. In the VIV analysis, the VIV amplitude is evaluated in the safety side as a whole.
