Biomechanical Computerized Simulation of Human Strength in Sagittal-Plane Activities

Abstract Modifications to an earlier biomechanical strength modeling procedure developed by Chaffin are presented, along with a series of strength prediction curves resulting from simulations typical in industrial material handling tasks. These families of curves predict human strength capabilities for performing general tasks (lifts, pushes and pulls) over a wide range of feasible body positions. Profile curves at the 50th and 95th percentile rankings for both male and female populations are presented.
