Adaptive Fuzzy Weighted Mean Filter

In order to remove mixed Gaussian noise and impulse noise of the corrupted images and maintain the image details simultaneously, this paper presents a new adaptive fuzzy weighted mean filter based on fuzzy theory. The algorithm first takes the pixels in the filter window as elements of a fuzzy set, then optimizes the membership of the fuzzy set with trimmed mean filter. Finally, the computer simulation experiments show that the presented filter is not only superior to traditional mean filter in Gaussian noise suppression and fine details preservation, but also good at the suppression of impulse noise and the mixed noise.
