ON THE CHARACTERISTIC OF RADAR REFLECTION ABOUT THE INCLINED SPECIAL WALL FOR PREVENTING RADAR FALSE ECHOES

The Minami and Kita Bisan Seto Oohashi, which are typical large bridges were constructed in the Seto inland sea. These bridges cause false reflections on radar screen. Preventive measures to reduce dangerous false reflections have been taken. These measures include the improvement of bridge structure design and the installation of reflection plates or specially developed absorbing materials. The paper describes experimental results obtained from an actual bridge anchorage which has a special construction involving an inclined special wall. The conclusion is that this wall is beneficial.
