Research on Auxiliary Damping Control of Excitation System

By use of robust control theory and integrating with wide area measurement technique, the auxiliary damping controllers for excitation system, which are based on centralized or decentralized control strategies respectively, are designed. While remote signal is measurable, both remote signal and local signal are used as feedback inputs;conversely, only local signal is used as feedback input. The procedures of the design is as following: firstly,by use of participating phasor and residual, the positioning of the controller and the selection of remote signal are performed;then,by means of frequency-domain reshaping method with pole placement, the robust synthesis of the controller is conducted, and the linear matrix inequality(LMI) method is chosen to implement numerical solution. The effectiveness and robustness of the designed controller are verified by both simulation results of a four machine test system and comparison results of the designed controller with the damping control of conventional power system stabilizer(PSS).
