Histological and Dosimetric Considerations of Bone Tumour Production with Radioactive Phosphorus

A study is reported of the production of bone tumours in rats following internal administration of 32P as single and as repeated injections. An attempt has been made to relate the radiation dosage pattern in the bones, determined by thick section autoradiography, with the histological changes observed and the subsequent production of tumours. The possible significance of radiation-induced fibrosis in tumour production is discussed.
