Unravelling the Voice of Willem Frederik Hermans: an Oral History Indexing Case Study

With the 10th anniversary of the death of the Dutch novelist Willem Frederik Hermans (1921–1994), theWillem Frederik Hermans Institute initiated the set-up of a Willem Frederik Hermans portal. Here, allavailable information related to the Dutch novelist and his work can be consulted. A part of this portalwas planned to be dedicated to a collection of spoken audio material. This report describes the searchfunctionalitythatwas attachedtothis collectionby theHumanMediaInteractionGroupof theUniversityofTwente. This project (further refered to as the WFH project) can be regarded a case-study of the disclosureof an oral-history spoken word archive using audio mining technology.
