Providing QoS Using Burst Composite Assembly Algorithm in Optical Burst Switching Networks

In optical burst switching (OBS), the performance of networks is directly affected by the process of burst assembly at edge nodes. In this paper, to provide high quality of service, a novel assembly mechanism called burst composite assembly (BCA) is proposed, which combines the best of the algorithm of fixed-assembly-period (FAP) and adaptive- assembly-size (AAS). We then conduct a performance evaluation on the algorithm BCA and obtain a suggested set of designing parameters to satisfy the target performance in terms of burst loss probability, average edge delay and system bandwidth utilization.
