Reliability Improvement of Propulsion System in Successful Return-to-flight of H-2A Launch Vehicle

Return-to-flight vehicle of H-2A No.7, which made its successful flight in February, 2005, eleven months after the failure of the flight No.6, adapted not only the improved Solid Rocket Booster (SRB-A), which was the cause of the failure, but also various reliability improvement actions. This paper presents an example of integrated system design method applied for the improvement of propulsion system, and shows how the method worked and will be applied in the future.
