Some aspects of weft-knitting science

Knitting science is studied to gain an insight into the mechanics of loop formation, i.e. how a loop is formed, to understand the factors which influence the loop formation process and loop characteristics. Loop length and loop shape are the most important parameters of a knitted fabric for governing its properties. Moreover, scientific studies reveal that many fabric parameters are directly related with the loop length by means of some numerical values called knitting constants. These constants again depend on the type of relaxation of the knitted fabric. All these matters are discussed in this chapter.
